How do I get relevant traffic to my new website?

Social media has developed in a major way over the last ten years, from the days where you would post your links in any and every link directory you could find to signing up and paying for traffic!

Things have changed, every day website developers are working to make information more viral and making website’s that have more value to the end visitor an example of this is Facebook, Facebook allows you to share information in not only  a controlled environment  but right across the Internet.

Tip number 1:

If you haven’t already got a Facebook account then now is the time to do so, once you have an account you are able to create a page for your business or organisation and allow people to share your business information virally to thousands of potential customers.

Why not link your Twitter page to your Facebook page so that your Twitter tweets are automatically posted to your page.

Why not create a custom HTML page on your Facebook page and then embed some images or promotional material / links back to your website.

Tip Number 2:

Twitter is another great way to share information from news right through to promotions you may be running right now, if you have not got a Twitter account then now is the time to create one, follow relevant “local” people and see your followers grow.

Make sure that you have Tweet buttons on your website and ensure that you keep Tweeting regular to encourage growth in your followers, Its a good idea to follow relevant people to your niche, they may follow you back.

Tip Number 3:

Linkedin, Linkedin is a business orientated social network allowing you to reach other businesses similar to yours, see what they are already doing to market their businesses and learn!

Tip Number 4:

Consider yourself an expert in your field? Know what you are talking about? why not comment and get involved in other peoples blogs or forums, be constructive and show that you have value to give, people will find you.

Tip Number 5:

Youtube, Youtube is a great way to share information via video’s, why not create a video tutorial or share something of value in a video and upload it. Don’t forget to link back to your website!

Your website:

People like to share things that they enjoy so it is vital that you have an end point to all this traffic you will be generating, this end point is the sale or the crunch, it is vital that you make your website as shareable as possible, add bookmarking buttons, use the many widgets that Facebook and Twitter provide to engage your visitors and improve your bounce rate.  Keep your content fresh and relevant whilst adding value to provide to your visitors.

All these things in mind you should see a little more traffic and over time should generate a large following of relevant supporters, followers and fans.
